What is the pressure compensation device
A pressure compensation device is a small accessory, easy to install, which prevents the pressure difference from the external environment in an electrical panel. But what is the relationship between condensation and pressure?
Humidity in electrical panels
The electrical and electronic components are generally protected by enclosures, not always hermetically sealed, even those considered watertight, with IP67 or IP68 protection degree. Indeed, the most protected electrical cabinet are often the ones most subject to this type of problem: the pressure difference between inside and outside tends to compensate and water vapor naturally present in the air can penetrate through the gaskets, raising the humidity levels inside.
Pressure and condensation in electrical panels
In the case of particularly humid environments, due to a rapid lowering of the temperature, a strong thermal excursion or intense rains, the walls of the casing can be rapidly cooled. This temperature difference can lead to a vacuum or a depression inside the electrical panel, compared to the external environment: the pressure, as we have already said, naturally tends to compensate itself and the external humid air, penetrating through the gasket, settles on the chilled walls, turning into condensation.
In the event that this situation occurs repeatedly, condensation water accumulates and increases the risk of corrosion and oxidation on the electrical contacts, on the delicate electronic circuits or on electronic boards, causing breakdowns and consequent repair costs.
In the worst cases, a strong accumulation of condensation water inside the enclosure can quickly start a short circuit and put all the vital elements of a production process out of action.
The Fandis pressure compensation device
The Fandis pressure compensation device allows compensating the pressure inside the electric panel, avoiding the entry of dust or humidity through any small opening of the panel. The assembly is easy: just make a simple or threaded hole in the casing to be ventilated, of only 37 mm, and mount the element as described. The installation can be done on any electrical panel, even afterward.
