Electromagnetic radiation may interfere with the proper functioning of the equipment in an electrical cabinet, so the enclosures walls are usually made of steel. This protection, however, is compromised by the hole for the fan housing, however necessary to maintain the correct temperature and ventilation inside. The Fandis FF fan filters with electromagnetic compatibility are an effective solution to these problems!
What is Electromagnetic Compatibility?
Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) is the property of an electrical device to function properly in a given electromagnetic environment without damaging it. When it comes to electrical cabinets, the designer must take into account the protection requirements yet in the very first step of the project to ensure long-term stability of the various electrical components. Electromagnetic radiation, however, can come from inside or outside the panel: all the components installed inside the enclosure can be electronically compatible with each other, but how do they protect themselves from radiation coming from the outside?
The need for fan filter in enclosures
As already mentioned, the EMC shield in a steel cabinet reduces noise emissions and protects internal components from external interference sources. However, we know very well that proper ventilation of the panel ensures the correct operation of the components, reducing the temperature, controlling humidity and preventing dust from infiltrating. Fan filters are, however, usually made of plastic and therefore allow electromagnetic waves to enter and exit the panel.
Fandis FF EMC fan filters
Fandis EMC fan filter units are designed to re-establish the protective effect of the enclosure despite the openings for their housing: the base of the FF EMC fan filter is metallized to create continuity with the electromagnetic barrier guaranteed by the walls of the electrical cabinet and a metal grille is inserted into the filter assembly to ensure proper circulation of air and heat.
